How automated medicine dispensers work

Evondos is flexible and can be adapted to different care settings. The robot fits around the needs of the patient, and not the patient around the robot. In independent mode, the patient takes their medication directly from the robot, guided by reminders and prompts. In assisted mode, a caregiver can connect via video to release the medication and observe it being taken.”

Four easy steps

Step 1: Receive your own medicine dispenser

You will receive your own medicine dispenser, which reminds you to take your medicine. The dispenser stores your medicines safely and acts as a locked medicine cabinet. You can place it where it suits you, provided it can be plugged into an electrical outlet.

Step 2: Pre-packaged medicines

The medicines placed into the dispenser are pre-packaged in dose pouches, supplied directly by a pharmacy. The dispenser then verifies that the medication is correct for the individual before refilling, ensuring safety and accuracy.

Step 3: Time to take your medication

When it's time to take your medication, you'll be notified, and the medication will come out when you press the button that lights up green.

Step 4: Guided medication intake

After pressing the button, the correct medicine pouch comes out, and the dispenser guides you through the medication process. The dispenser pre-cuts your pouches, making them easy to open.

Multidose packaging

Evondos robots use pre-packed multidose packaging provided by pharmacies. One roll of pouches could contain up to a month's worth of medicines.

Dispensing at the right time

Evondos robots assist patients by dispensing their medicine at the right time. When it is time to take the medication, the robot provides guidance in taking medications, both by issuing spoken instructions and sound signals, and by displaying written instructions on the device screen with indicator lights.

If the medicine is not taken after multiple reminders, the dose will be locked inside the device, and the care personnel will be notified. The robot provides the patient with a pre-cut pouch for easy opening.

The Evondos robot and service helps people live independently at home, without being tied to care staff schedules. Users of the Evondos service achieve more than 99% adherence to their prescribed medication.”
